The Importance of Themes
By DecoratorInside.com
Let’s define a theme first: it’s a group of design elements of similar origin combined and put to use for delivering a specific idea or ideology. Thus came up such names, as the contemporary themes, the Oriental theme or abstract themes that have long been held are responsible for bringing forth a drastic change in a given space.
Broadening the concept, themes stretch to colors, finishes, textures, specific shapes and sometimes, specific objects that are exclusive to the theme and this gives a person the choice to modify a set theme according to one’s will if he or she is not particularly a purist. But then again, a change in a set theme is another way to initiate a theme formerly unheard of.
To experiment with themes for living room decoration, one must as well know the themes. Contemporary design themes; being more popular due to their emphasis on simplistic features, lines and forms, its balance that forms the backbone of the concept. The colorations are also simple; they chiefly involve light and shadows. Oriental design theme, on the other hand, concentrates on surface designing with textures and other heavy decorations. It’s more of an way to express.
Country design theme involves more natural elements like wooden furniture, wooden floors and wooden ceilings. We learned about the primary themes that people mostly use for living room decoration; what’s to be found next is one’s personal preference. Once that’s done, finding the designing elements fitting the theme becomes relatively easy. But moderation again; a living room represents the house and spoiling a face is the last thing that one would want. And though not mandatory, it’s good to make the theme run in the rest of the rooms; so its selection is a vital point to consider. A perfect visual balance is what that should be maintained.
