A Picture Perfect Nursery

Look at any sleeping infant, blissfully unaware of any troubles in the world, and you will realize you have never slept as soundly as you did when you were a baby. In order for your child to make the most of this peaceful period of life, design a nursery that is both complimentary and comfortable.

Soft pastel colors with designs that blend together to form a smooth exterior, such as a pastoral scene with sheep or clouds, provide a soothing and pleasing environment for infants. Many stores sell easy to place wall murals of light and sunny scenes that blend in with a background color on a wall. That makes them easy to change as your baby grows out of the nursery stage and into a toddler.

As children grow into their primary years they become attracted to bright primary colors, but as infants bright lights and loud noise cause distress and should be avoided. Use low intensity light in the room, and make sure you pick a room in the house where TVs or traffic is not a factor.

Beyond a crib, make sure there is a space for plenty of storage cabinets. Everything from diapers to blankets to bibs and pajamas will need to be stored. A changing table with drawers will provide extra storage and keep everything you need handy for the change all in one spot. Â Make sure all paints used on walls and furniture is baby-safe.

The final element to place in your nursery is a rocking chair. Used for nursing or simply for providing a little motion oriented comfort, a rocking chair allows the child to fall into that safe and sound sleep in the arms of a parent. As a bonus, the baby won’t have to be carried very far to be put down for another few hours of glorious slumber.
