Tiling on the bathroom floor is as important as it is on the floors of other rooms of the house. The utility of a bathroom may be limited in a day. Nevertheless, a well-tiled bathroom gives so much relaxation that we feel being in the bathroom for an extended period. Before selecting the design of the tiles, the type is very essential.
A ceramic tile will be an ideal choice. Some people go for stone floors instead of tiles. But the choices the tiles have in respect of size, shape and color are very wide. Color choice plays a vital role in the decoration of bathroom with tiles. Color combinations affect the human mind because it is deeply connected with the feeling and mood of the human beings. A neutral base can be a better choice but at the same time, bright colors also suit well and give a good look. It depends upon one’s taste or imagination of color or color combinations.
Some tips while laying tiles: Lying of tiles should be carefully done- some tips.
1. Grouting should be perfect with uniform curing. Uneven color may result with uneven curing of grouts.
2. Efflorescence of moisture should be verified as it causes discoloration.
3. Tiles should be firmly set before actually grouting as uncured setting materials may ooze out of the joints spoiling the look of the tiles.
4. Water absorbency of tiles should be verified before laying as it may cause uneven curing.
5. Removal of excess grouting and film at the cleaning stage is recommended.
6. Uniform curing can be achieved by maintaining constant temperature and proper ventilation of the laid bathroom.
7. Grout mixture plays a vital role as lose or solid mixture may cause shade variations and poor strength.
8. The grout strength is increased with damp curing for three days.
9. Use of proper trowels not only improves the laying and gives a good finish.
One disadvantage with tiles is that they become cold. Nobody wants to put their feet on cold tiles. Electric floor heating system can be used for heating the floor of the tiles.
